SET ENGLISH (Optional Compulsory)

Instructions for the candidates :-

1.     Candidates are required to give answers in their own words as far as practicable.

2.     Figures in the right hand margin indicate full marks.

3.     While answering the questions, candidates should adhere to the word limit as far as practicable.

4.     15 minutes of extra time has been allotted for the candidate to read the questions and follow the instructions carefully.

5.     All questions are compulsory.

6.     Use of any electronic device is strictly prohibited.

7.     This question paper is divided into two sections & Section-A and Section-B.

8.     In Section – A, there are 100 objective type questions, each carrying 1 mark. Out of 100 questions, you have to attempt only 50. In case more than 50 questions are answered, only the first 50 answers will be evaluated. Darken the circle with blue/ black ball pen against the correct

option on OMR Answer Sheet provided to you. Do not use whitener/liquid/blade/nail, etc on OMR Answer Sheet, otherwise the

result will be treated invalid.

9.     Section- B has Descriptive Type Questions comprising 2 prose passages of 7 marks each and one extract from Poetry of 6 marks for comprehension. Apart from these, there are 4 questions on writing skills, each of 5 marks. Each question has an alternative option. There are 10 short answer type questions of 2 marks each out of which you have to answer any five.

There are many kinds of fish. There are big fish, small fish, long fish and short fish. People know about 25,000 different kinds of fish.

There are probably 15,000 kinds of fish that people do not know about. There are many colours of fish – red, blue, yellow and white. All fish do not eat the same things. Some fish eat flies or other bugs. Some eat plants like seaweed. Some fish eat other fish. The fastest fish can swim about 70 miles per hour. The longest fish are Sharks. Fish can see, feel and taste. They can feel pain too.

But what I am thinking about just now is not so much the practical use of one’s mind as its use for enjoyment.
