Draupadi  Murmur is an Indian politician serving as the 15th and current President of India since 25 July 2022. She is a member of the Bhartiya Janata Party. She is the first person belonging to the indigenous, scheduled tribe community to be elected as the President of India.

Draupadi Murmu Biography: Draupadi Murmu took oath as the 15th President of India on July 25, 2022. She contested against Yashwant Sinha, the joint opposition’s nominee for the top constitutional job. Draupadi Murmu is a tribal leader from Rairangpur in the Mayurbhanj district in Odisha. Draupadi Murmu is a soft-spoken leader who made her way into the politics of Odisha with her sheer hard work. Draupadi Murmu after winning the Presidential elections 2022, has become the first tribal and the second woman to hold the highest office.

Murmu had three children - two sons and a daughter - with her husband Shyam Charan Murmu. According to news reports, one of her sons died under mysterious circumstances in 2009 while her second son passed away in a road accident three years later. She had lost her husband earlier because of cardiac arrest.
